The End of an Era

My favourite story has come to an end.

For Better or For Worse has been one comic strip that I have followed on and off for years. The story is now over. I almost cried today. Strange that I'm so sad about it. I guess 'cause even when I wasn't actively reading it, it was always there. When I was quite young, I had a couple of paper routes. Before I started out on my journey, I would always crack the paper open to read the funnies, mostly with the intent on seeing what Michael and Elizabeth were up to. Then, years went by without me reading it, and about 5 years ago, I found it online, and have read it pretty much every day since. No matter how insane my life was, no matter how many times I moved, changed lives, re-invented myself, the Pattersons were still around, and still what I figured a "normal" and "happy" family was like. They had their trials and tribulations, but they were always there for each other. Just how I wished my family was. Just like I hope my "new" family will be.

Thank you Lynn for a wonderful story. I'm looking forward to reading your new, "fleshed out" version of my favourite family.

Since when is babysitting so complicated?!?!

I'm starting up daycare in my house. I'm trying to take on two kids, which means I don't need to be licenced. But I'm going to be "registered" with the local child care referral and resource centre place.

I need to have my house child proofed, which is a no-brainer, but I also need to spray everything with bleach a bazillion times a day, I need to make a menu plan for SNACKS (I just did a four week plan and it took me about two hours. I feel like I'm back in school doing homework assignments), I need to make up a stack of different consent forms from consent for random walks to applying sunscreen, to administering medicine. I need to draw up sign in and sign out sheets for the parents to sign when they drop thier kids off and pick them up. I need to create a parents handbook which includes my discipline routines, etc. I also need to make up and include an "if your kid gets sick, this is what we'll do" section of the book.

On top of that, I've already taken first aid, and I will be taking a six week child care course. I also have to take part in random courses through the year to keep in "good standing" with the centre. And all this just to make sure that the parents can get the maximum subsidy rate.

Oh yeah, I also have to finish renovating the new master bedroom so that I can move our bedroom stuff in there and turn our current room into a nap room for the kids.

And Armondo seems to think that I should already have clients when I have all this stuff to do.... I'm going to the paper on Monday to get an ad put in it for later in the week. That is, if we get the bedrooms done by then...

So yeah, I'm a little busy right now.

True to your word.

I try not to make promises I don't intend to keep. I also try not to make plans I don't intend on keeping. And if, for some reason, the plans have to change, I will do my best to inform others who are involved in those plans as soon as I can, and most often before the planned event is supposed to take place. And I will apologize for the inconvenience.

Makes sense, don't you think? Why is it so hard for others to do the same?

I'm so sick of being stood up. It's usually moms who are the worst for this. I got stood up tonight. I'm grumpy about it.

To a New Beginning!

I just couldn't get back "into" my old blog. Between mean trolls, snooping in laws, and just falling behind, I felt it might be nice to start fresh.

I'll be keeping all the same nick-names as on the old blog, so I guess if anyone wanted to be clever and find me, they could, but let's just hope that it's the nice people who find me, and not the jerks.

I'm going to do some formatting today, and will most likely start writing tomorrow.
